Brook House is a beautiful, traditional English building located on the edge of the business district, at the heart of the vibrant city centre and all its amenities. It has an international atmosphere and is home to many international companies including the Spanish Consulate. Active English Academy’s partner, the Manchester Business School, is situated in Manchester’s university area off Oxford Street. The Manchester Business School has around 2000 students on campus making Manchester the largest campus-based school in the UK.

Active English Academy is a small, friendly and professional school. Our class sizes are small with an average of 4 students per class, which gives the students every opportunity to participate and develop their skills. We tailor make our courses to meet your specific needs; if you need to work on your negotiation skills then the teacher will incorporate this into the lesson plan, if you want to develop a particular writing skill then this will be addressed during the course etc. Just let us know what you need before your course begins and you will be completely satisfied with the results.  Our teachers focus on our students’ specific requirements, whether it is to further their international careers, develop their language skills to cater for their job, etc.

Our staff are always available to help the students with any queries they may have, whether it be finding the best Italian restaurant for lunch or giving details of how best to get to historical York. During break times, students can visit “Student Corner” to read magazines, newspapers, check their emails on the computer or look at what’s on in Manchester. We do our best to make the student feel comfortable and at home at Active English Academy.

We offer a range of activities which give students the opportunity to continue practising their English skills outside the classroom. We offer many activities which vary with the seasons:  students are taken on their first day on a tour of Manchester and in the evening we attend a typically English pub quiz which gives staff and students the chance to get to know each other. We offer museum visits, performances and specific visits (visits to a Manchester courtroom for example).

Manchester City Centre is easily accessible by air from Manchester International Airport, the largest UK airport outside London, as well as from Liverpool, Leeds and Blackpool low-cost airports. Regular shuttle services (train and bus), taxi services are available from these airports to Manchester City Centre. Manchester has 3 city centre railway stations, with fast and frequent trains to and from many destinations including London and many UK cities. Manchester boasts one of the finest motorway systems in the UK making access to local and national road links very easy.
