ENGLISH & PAID WORK PLACEMENT


About the English & Paid Work Placement


Not only do many students come to learn English in England, they also want to experience the business world in the UK on a work placement. What makes Active English Academy different? We are a British Council accredited English language school in Manchester offering PAID work placement to EU students!

Active English Academy’s “English & Paid Work Placement” is available to EU passport holders only. Your minimum level of English for this programme must be lower intermediate (unskilled) or intermediate (skilled) when enrolling on this programme.

You must first complete an Application Form, send a full CV (Resume) and covering letter. You will then have a telephone interview with one of Active English Academy’s Placement Coordinator and will be required to send us a written test by email. If your language level does not meet the minimum required for the work placement, the Placement Coordinator will advise on the appropriate English language programme.

What is included in our English & Paid Work Placement Programme? 


  • Stage 1: General & Business English Course (20 hours per week) for a minimum of 4 weeks
  • Stage 2: Paid Work Placement for 24 weeks+
  • 2 types of Paid Work Placements:
    - Unskilled: Hospitality, housekeeping, domestic help, factory work, etc.
    - Skilled:     Hospitality, IT, customer support, administration, manufacturing &
                       engineering etc.
  • CV/Interview workshops including interview techniques etc.
  • Paid work placement opportunities suitable for the student.
  • Help with opening bank account, registering with doctor’s surgery etc.
  • Support throughout the placement.


About the work placement


Most students will be required to attend an interview before starting the work placement and we will give the student all the job details. If the student is not successful, we will offer a maximum of 5 interviews for placements in total. If you are successful, you must accept the placement that meets your original request.  If the student is unhappy with the company, we will offer a maximum of 2 alternative placements.
 

How much does it cost?


English & Paid Work Placement  (Unskilled)                  £1,800.00

English & Paid Work Placement  (Skilled)                            £2,050.00            

A non-refundable Application fee of £90.00 is payable upon application and includes an initial telephone interview and written test.

 

Please note a minimum of 4 weeks is required to organise the work placement from the date of submitting your CV and covering letter.

Course Facts:


Minimum entry level:         Unskilled work placement: Lower Intermediate
Skilled work placement: Intermediate
Duration: English Course: 4 weeks – Work placement: 24wks+
Minimum age: 18 years old  
English Course: 15 hrs General English + 5 hrs Business English/wk
Start Date:  Every Monday

Please note that Active English Academy will be closed on the following days:
In 2011: August 29th and from December 23rd 2011 to January 8th 2012 included.
In 2012: April 6th, April 9th, May 7th, June 4th, June 5th, August 27th and from December 22nd 2012 to January 6th 2013 included.
There will be no classes on these days.
